The Eileen Scotton Gallery has been established as a community space for local residents to share their creativity, stories, and travels in various mediums and forms. The Gallery is named in honour of Eileen Scotton being the Roma Town Council's first and only female Town Clerk in its 140 year history.
During a period of our history when females were rarely found in such positions, Eileen Scotton was appointed as Town Clerk on 12 September 1930 at the age of 27. She held the position for 24 years until she resigned on 17 June 1955.
The Gallery is located in the Cultural Centre, Cnr Bungil & Quintin Streets.
CURRENT EXHIBITION: The Great Fire of 1908 which tells the story of Roma's history with the dramatic discovery of natural gas. |
